I'm always asked how long I've been a photographer.  My answer is usually "I've always been a photographer". Ever since I can remember I've been playing around with my fathers cameras.  I come from a long line of photographers.  My Great Grandfather first picked up a camera in the early 1900's and started documenting farm life in Western Victoria. Since then four generations of my family have expressed themselves artistically through the camera.

To celebrate this heritage, in November 2007 my family staged an
exhibition “4 Generations of Boehm Photographers” at the Natimuk Frinj Festival, which was held in the small Wimmera town that I and the previous three generations were born in.

I was given my first camera for my 9th birthday and I can still remember the first photo I ever took with it - it was a picture of my 4 year old brother wearing a silly birthday party hat. And I can still remember the feeling of excitement seconds later when I ripped open the back of the camera expecting to see a photo already preserved on the film. That was closely followed by a sinking feeling when I saw the undeveloped film in the back of the camera.

I studied Applied Science at University and worked all over NSW for 7 years before settling in Newcastle in 2008 with my young family.

I love photographing weddings, the energy and joy of the day brings out the best in me.  It's a time of celebration and I find the challenge of capturing the feeling of the day to be one of the most rewarding experiences.

In addition to weddings I shoot anything that moves and quite a lot of things that don't. I shoot a lot of touring musicians and when I've got a spare moment to myself I take my camera to the beach.
